Mālama I Ke Ola Health Center’s main clinic is located in Wailuku town, in the shadow of the West Maui mountains. We acknowledge the moku and ahupuaʻa of Wailuku in which we reside, the traditional lands of Kānaka Maoli, once known for being the largest loʻi kalo (taro patch) growing region in all of Hawai’i. We are grateful to the ‘āina itself, and seek to honor and serve the people who have been the original stewards of this land for generations.
At Mālama I Ke Ola Health Center, we are guided by Community First, Always. We commit to listening with curiosity, humility and respect to those we serve. We constantly challenge ourselves to grow and develop solutions for health and well-being to meet and exceed the needs of our community on Maui.
Mālama I Ke Ola Health Center was founded in 1993 by a group of concerned community members. Our founders had a vision to ensure that all who needed access to healthcare in Maui, especially the underserved, were able to find that high quality and compassionate care at Mālama I Ke Ola Health Center. This vision guides us today.
Our logo is inspired by the ‘olena, one of the canoe plants brought to Hawai’i by Polynesian voyagers. ‘Olena, or Hawaiian turmeric, was used as a medicinal plant by Hawaiian healers and priests for healing and purification rituals. In choosing this symbol with a deep connection to Hawaiian history and healing, we enter a uniquely new phase of deepening our own learning of Hawaiian culture and recommitting to honoring it.
